Hoosier Resilience Index

Local communities in Indiana can use this tool to better understand their readiness and risks for environmental and climate change.

Various areas in Indiana will be impacted by climate change in different ways. This website provides a statewide map that charts county-by-county extreme heat, extreme precipitation, and floodplain land use data. The map provides current trends and 2050 emission scenarios for extreme heat and preciptation events, based on the Indiana Climate Change Impacts Assessment. Users can turn on the "Land Use" layer to view the distribution of developed land across the state, and consider how land use could be impacted by increasing amounts of precipitation.

Data on social vulnerability is available by typing in the county or city/town name in the community selection box. The tool provides projection information specific to that community, and allows users to explore sensitivity to climate hazards and identify people and infrastructure that will be impacted by extreme events.
