Pacific Island Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS)

Local government agencies, residents, and visitors can find real-time coastal and ocean observations as well as wave and water-level forecasts for many islands in the Pacific Ocean.

The Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) collects real-time data on ocean conditions, forecasts future events, and develops user-friendly tools to help users access this information. In collaboration with a large network of partners, PacIOOS provides information, tools, and services to help inform decision making in Pacific communities on a daily basis.

The site offers observations and forecasts for Waves, Currents, Shoreline Impacts, Water Characteristics, and Weather for many islands in the Pacific Ocean, and offers data from various sources in interactive maps.

Island communities can use observations and forecasts to help them gauge when they need to protect their property from potential coastal flooding.
